History of Manoora, Cairns

Named after TSMV (Twin screw motor vessel) Manoora, built 1935 in Scotland for the Adelaide Steamship Company Limited. Cairns was a regular port of call for Manoora during the winter months on the Melbourne-Cairns tourist line. Manoora, of 10,856 tons gross, was also an Armed Merchant Cruiser from 1939 to 1942, then a Landing Ship Infantry from 1943-45.
