A Durie brother's real record
CHRIS Durie, brother of garden design guru Jamie Durie, has proven the designer genes run in the family after selling his newly renovated Edge Hill home for a record price.

Just like his brother, Chris is passionate about transforming “unloved” homes into stylish and modern designs.

It was love at first sight when the building designer discovered this old style Queenslander in Boden St at Edge Hill. And three years on Chris proudly admires his design work.

“I do believe in smart design for lower energy consumption and passive solar designs factoring in the sun at different times of the year and cooling breezes,” he said.

“I have learnt that the two most important rooms in a house are the kitchen and bathroom as it’s often the woman who makes the final decision on what house they buy.”

Powe Property selling agent Ben August said: “This house sale has broken a sale record for the area from Greenslopes St back, so this is the fifth street in.

“The previous record was $500,000 which was set in Richardson St, two streets up from Boden St.

“This property sold in just three days. It was listed on the Thursday and sold on the Saturday.”

In September 1986 the house sold for $69,000.

It went onto the market again in 1999 and sold for $156,500. Mr Durie then brought the Boden St home in 2008 for $492,000 and sold it in November for $540,000.
