Matt Powe of Powe Property says the new year is off to a great start for this region based on the past two weeks. The Cairns real estate agent has a lot to smile about – a record year in sales and six houses have already sold since the beginning of January. Matt Powe of Powe Property is confident that 2011 will shape up to be a superior year for the region if the past two weeks are anything to go by. Despite a gloomy real estate market in Cairns last year agents at Powe Property smashed their 2009 sales record by nearly $ 6 million. “The office sold $ 48.8 million from 140 sales, compared to $ 42.8 million in 2009. This record eclipsed the previous one from 2009 by 14 percent,” he said. “The volume of sales for the office can mainly be attributed to the efforts of Ben August and Clint Smith who beat their previous personal records by more than 50 percent of the volumes recorded in the previous year. “This is the third consecutive year that the record has been broken. We have had a strong start to the month with six sales in the first week back from the Christmas and New Year break. “This is a strong start to the year and bodes well for the first quarter of 2011. “This week alone we sold a house at Freshwater in the high $ 400,000 price range, which was only on the market for a week. The results from the office show that in any market you can deliver great results with the right formula. “Whatever the market, an agent has to remain focused on the factors they can control and block out any other negative influences. We have proven that a good property, well presented and marketed, always finds a buyer. Source: Cairns Post |
